Lesson Plans
A well-designed lesson plan is important because it provides structure, clear learning objectives, and meaningful learning experiences for students. Lesson plans help ensure that instruction is engaging, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with curriculum standards.
First Day of School
Having a prepared plan for the first day of school helps set clear expectations, build student confidence, and create a positive classroom environment. Being organized allows the teacher to manage routines smoothly, reduce confusion, and focus on building relationships with students. A strong first day helps set the foundation for a successful school year.
Artist Interest Inventory
Used at the beginning of the school year to build relationships and gain insight into students' interests, experiences with art, and preferred ways of learning.
Art Vocabulary Cards
Vocabulary cards that I designed and created to reinforce key art concepts. They can be used during whole-class or small-group activities to check for understanding, as independent practice, or for one-on-one instruction and intervention, such as in a special education setting. The cards provide a flexible way to review vocabulary while supporting diverse learning needs.
Needlework - Kindergaten
Teaching needlework in kindergarten helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, patience, and concentration. Activities like lacing and simple stitching also encourage creativity, problem-solving, and independence while strengthening the small muscles needed for writing and other everyday tasks.
Building Rapport Activity
A beginning-of-the-year activity designed to build relationships, foster classroom community, and help students and the teacher get to know one another.
Contemporary Art
After visiting the Dallas Contemporary and viewing Mexican-American artist Francisco Moreno's In Progress series, I was inspired to develop a lesson that explores how artists can create variation within a consistent theme. Students see how contemporary artists express personal ideas and are encouraged to develop their own artistic voice.
